This page explains what Aethel collects, why, who can see it, and how to delete it. If anything here is unclear, write to us. We reply within 2 business days. Replies come from Aethel's AI support assistant.

The short version

  • Your interviewer is an AI, not a person.
  • We keep a written transcript of your interview. We do not record or store your video or audio.
  • You see your results first. A company sees your results only when you took the interview through that company's link.
  • If you retake the interview, you keep every attempt and choose which one represents you. Companies never see how many attempts you took.
  • If you add a resume when you apply, your browser reads it. We never upload or keep the file, only the details you confirm.
  • We do not sell your data, and we do not use your interview to train AI models.
  • AI scores help companies review candidates. They do not make hiring decisions. People do.
  • We count visits and key steps as daily totals, without cookies and without tracking you.
  • You can delete your data at any time from your profile page, or by emailing support@aethel.pro.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, and how you sign in (email and password, or Google).
  • Profile details you add: such as your field, skills, work history, education, and links.
  • Resume details you confirm: if you add a resume or LinkedIn PDF when you apply, only the details you check and confirm, never the file. See if you add a resume.
  • Your interview: the questions you were asked, the text of your answers (typed, or spoken and turned into text), the scores and written summary, and a record of the consent you gave before starting. If you retake the interview, each attempt is kept, with which attempt you chose to represent you. We also keep when each question and answer was saved and when each live interview room was opened, and from those, how the interview ran: how long it took and how many times you left the interview room and came back (not scored).
  • Share links and verification codes: if you make one, which result it points to, when it stops working, whether you turned it off, and how many times other people opened or checked it. A verification code also keeps a one-way code of the result as it was when you made it, so a check can tell whether the result changed.
  • Company details: for company accounts, the company name, the roles you create, and billing details handled by Stripe.
  • Messages to us: anything you send to support@aethel.pro, or through the support form: the topic, your message, the email address we reply to, and your name if you give it. If you are signed in when you send it, we also note which account sent it.
  • Company requests: if you use "Tell us what you need" on our start hiring page: your work email, your name if you give it, your company or team name, the field, role and number of people you choose, and what you write. If you are signed in when you send it, we also note which account sent it.
  • Technical details: error reports, standard connection details such as IP address and browser type, and timings from your interview, such as how long the interviewer took to appear and to reply. The timings are numbers only and are kept and deleted with the interview record.

If you add a resume

When you apply, you can start with your resume or a PDF of your LinkedIn profile, so you do not have to type your details and the interviewer can ask about your real work.

  • Adding a resume is optional. You can fill in the form yourself instead.
  • Your browser reads the file on your device. The file is never uploaded to Aethel, and we do not keep the file or its full text.
  • You see what we found and can change or remove any of it. Nothing from your resume is saved until you confirm. We keep only what you confirm: your name, headline, field, skills, most recent role and company, years of experience, and the project or result you chose.
  • We save these details with your Aethel profile. The AI interviewer uses them to ask about your real work, so they are sent to the AI providers listed below that write interview questions.
  • They are not shown on your public profile, and companies do not get them. A company that sent you an interview link sees your name and that interview's results, and its transcript shows any question where the interviewer mentioned one of these details.
  • You can edit your skills and work history on your profile page, and ask us to correct or delete any of it. When you delete your data, these details are deleted with your profile.

What the AI interview records

The interviewer is an AI. In the live interview room it appears as a realistic video avatar and speaks its questions out loud. Before a saved interview begins, we show you what will be collected and ask for your consent. You can stop at any time.

  • Saved: a written transcript of the questions and your answers, the scores and summary written from it, and your consent record.
  • Not saved: your camera video and your microphone audio. If you turn on your camera, it only shows you a preview of yourself in your own browser. It is never uploaded.
  • The live video call: the interview runs as a live video call through LiveKit. Aethel does not record the call, and your camera preview stays in your browser and is never sent.
  • Speaking your answers: if you turn on your microphone, your audio travels through LiveKit to Deepgram, which turns it into text, and Aethel keeps only the text. You can type your answers instead.
  • The interviewer's voice and video: the interviewer's questions are written by an OpenAI model through LiveKit. Cartesia turns each question into the interviewer's voice, and our video interview provider shows it as a realistic video avatar. None of them receive your camera. If the interviewer's video cannot start or stops, the interview goes on by voice and text, and the screen says so.
  • Backup interview and practice: if the live video call cannot start, you may be offered a backup interview instead, and the consent screen tells you which one you are starting. The backup interview has no video: the AI's questions are shown on screen, and your browser can read them aloud with a voice that runs on your device. In the backup interview and in the practice interview, if you speak, your browser's built-in speech recognition turns your voice into text. Depending on your browser, the browser maker (for example Google for Chrome, or Apple for Safari) may process that audio under its own terms.
  • No surveillance: we do not record your screen, track your mouse or keystrokes, or analyze your face, voice, or video.

How we use it

  • To run your interview: ask questions that fit your background, and score your answers.
  • To show you your results, and to show them to a company when you took the interview through that company's link.
  • To run your account, send account and interview emails, and answer support requests and company requests.
  • To keep Aethel secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
  • To process company payments.
  • To count, as daily totals, how many people visit and use Aethel.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use your interview or profile to train AI models, and we do not share your interview with anyone to train theirs. We send interview content to OpenAI through its API. Under OpenAI's API terms, that content is not used to train OpenAI's models by default. If you send a support message or ask for a review, Aethel's AI support assistant (Claude, made by Anthropic) reads it, and for a review, that interview's transcript and scores. The Claude account we use for support has Anthropic's model training setting turned off (checked October 7, 2026), so Anthropic does not use those conversations to train its models. Anthropic's terms make two exceptions: a conversation flagged for a safety review, or one sent to Anthropic as feedback. We do not send support conversations as feedback.

Who sees your results

  • You. You can read your full results: the whole transcript, your scores, and the quotes from your answers behind each score.
  • A company, only through its link. When you take the interview through a company's interview link, that company sees your name, your email address, your transcript, your results for that role, and how the interview ran: how long it took and how many times you left the interview room and came back. If you choose "Use my recent interview" at a company's link instead, that company sees your name, your email address, and the transcript and results of the recent interview that represents you, marked with the date you took it, plus your answers to the company's own questions if it has any. A company sees only the interview you took or shared through its link, never your other attempts or how many you took. The link's page tells you this before you start, and you can stop sharing a recent interview at any time from your home. Other companies do not see it.
  • People you send a share link to. From your results page you can make a link to a result: the interview attempt that represents you, or an interview you took through a company's link. People with the link see your name, your field, that interview's transcript, and its scores with their quotes, but not your email address or your other attempts. A link works for up to 90 days, and you can turn it off at any time.
  • People you give a verification code to. When you download the attempt that represents you as a PDF, you can add a verification code. Anyone with the code can check on Aethel that the result is real: they see your first name and last initial, the field, the interview date, the area scores, and whether the result changed. Not your transcript, the quotes, or your email address. A code works until that interview record is deleted (at most 24 months), and you can turn it off at any time.
  • Find experts, only if you turn it on. Your profile is not listed unless you turn on "Show my profile on Find experts" on your profile page. Then anyone can see your name, field, specialty, and your scores for the areas where your answers gave enough evidence, from the attempt that represents you. Never your transcript, the quotes, your contact details, your rate, your other attempts, or the rest of your profile. You can turn it off at any time.
  • Aethel staff, only when needed to run the service or investigate abuse.
  • Aethel's AI support assistant (Claude, made by Anthropic), only when it answers a support message or a review request about that result.

Service providers we use

These companies process data for Aethel so we can run the service. They may only use it to provide their service to us, except Anthropic, which keeps and uses it under its own consumer terms (see its entry). We will update this list when it changes.

Google Firebase and Google Cloud
Sign-in, our database, website hosting, and the server code that runs interviews.
Receives: Account details, your profile, interview transcripts, and results.
Location: United States.
OpenAI
Writes interview questions, scores interview answers, and suggests role details from a job description a company pastes.
Receives: Profile details you give us or confirm from your resume (such as skills, work history, and a project you describe), your interview transcript, and job description text a company pastes (not stored by Aethel).
Location: Not limited to one country.
Our video interview provider, currently Beyond Presence
Shows the AI interviewer as a realistic video avatar in the live interview room and speaks its questions.
Receives: The voice of each question (which can quote your profile or earlier answers) and standard connection details such as IP address and browser. It does not receive your camera or microphone.
Location: European Union.
LiveKit
Runs the video call when your interview happens in our live interview room, and connects it to the speech services below.
Receives: The call audio, including your microphone audio if you turn the microphone on, the text of the conversation, the profile details the interviewer uses to choose its questions, and standard connection details. Aethel does not record the call.
Location: United States.
Deepgram
In the live interview room, turns your spoken answers into text.
Receives: Your microphone audio while the microphone is on. If you type your answers, it receives nothing from you.
Location: Not limited to one country.
Cartesia
In the live interview room, creates the AI interviewer’s voice.

Receives: Your email address, your name, and the email content, including what you write in the support form or a company request.
Location: North America.
Sentry
Tells us when something breaks on our website or our server.
Receives: Only when an error happens: technical details, such as the error itself, the page address with private link codes removed, your browser type, and the recent steps on the page before the error, such as pages opened and buttons pressed. We remove email addresses and private codes before a report is sent, and we do not attach your name or account. Nothing is sent on a normal page visit.
Location: United States.
Stripe
Processes payments from companies.
Receives: Billing email and payment details. You enter card details on Stripe; Aethel never sees full card numbers.
Location: United States.
Anthropic (Claude)
Aethel's AI support assistant. It reads support messages, and for a review request that interview's transcript and scores, to write the reply.
Receives: What you write to us in a support message, a company request or a review request, with your name and email address, and for a review request, that interview's transcript and scores. Nothing from an interview you have not asked us about.
Location: United States and other countries.

Our subprocessors page gives the detail for each location, the date we checked it, and the company's own documents we checked it against.

Former providers: D-ID processed interview data for Aethel until October 7, 2026. Showed the AI interviewer as a video avatar in the backup interview, and was the backup video in the live interview room. D-ID stores data on Amazon Web Services in Oregon, United States, and deletes data from its live agents within 72 hours, but its terms let it keep using what it received.

How long we keep data

  • Interview records (transcript, scores, and consent record): up to 24 months after each interview. A retake does not delete the interview before it: each one is an attempt kept on its own 24 months schedule, unless you delete it sooner. Deletion runs on a schedule, so it can take a few days past that date.
  • Score details on your profile: removed on the same 24 months schedule. Your public profile stops showing an attempt's scores when that attempt's 24 months end.
  • Share links and verification codes: a link works for up to 90 days, and a code for at most 24 months. Either stops working at once when you turn it off. It is deleted on a schedule when it runs out, or about 30 days after you turn it off, and at once if you delete that interview or your data.
  • A recent interview you share with a company ("Use my recent interview"): the company's copy, and any short add-on with the company's own questions, are deleted when the recent interview itself is, up to 24 months after you took it, or at once if you stop sharing it or delete it. Your consent record for the share is kept until the same date, marked as withdrawn if you stopped sharing.
  • Review requests and free retake records: up to 24 months after they are made, or sooner if you delete that interview attempt or your data.
  • Account and profile details: while your account is open, or until you ask us to delete them.
  • Payment records: as long as tax and accounting rules require.
  • Deletion requests: a short record that the request happened, kept for 24 months: when it arrived, when it was done, who did it, and how many records were deleted. It does not keep your name, email address, or message.
  • Support form messages: up to 24 months after you send them. Deletion runs on a schedule, so it can take a few days past that date. A copy also goes to our team inbox by email so we can reply. That email copy is not deleted on this schedule: we delete it when you ask us to delete your data. Replies are written by Aethel's AI support assistant. Notes written while answering, and a record of who handled it, are kept with the message and deleted with it. If the message asked us to delete your data, its text, your name and address, and our notes are deleted when we do that, and only the short record that the request happened stays.
  • Support form limits: to stop abuse, we count how many messages arrive each day from one IP address, and from one account when you are signed in. Each count is kept under a one-way code made with a secret that changes every day, and the counts and the secret are deleted within about three days. The form does not store your IP address.
  • Company requests: up to 12 months after you send them, with the same scheduled deletion. A copy also goes to our team inbox by email so we can reply. That email copy is not deleted on this schedule: we delete it when you ask us to delete your data. The company request form limits requests the same way as the support form, with its own daily counts, and does not store your IP address either.

We may keep the minimum needed for longer if the law requires it, or to deal with a dispute or fraud.

Deleting your data and your other choices

The quickest way to delete your data is to do it yourself: sign in, open your profile page, and use "Delete my data". It deletes your data right away, and companies you interviewed with through a link lose access to those results.

You can also email support@aethel.pro from the email address on your account, or use the support form and choose "Delete my account and data". We check that the request came from your account's email address, then run the same deletion as "Delete my data" within 30 days of getting it, and email you when it is done. There is no fee.

Either way, the deletion covers:

  • Your sign-in account, your profile, your public profile on Find experts, and your private contact details.
  • Your interview records: transcripts, scores, and consent records.
  • Results you shared with companies through their links, with the companies' decisions and notes about them, and any update about them not yet sent to a company's systems.
  • Your share links and PDF verification codes, which stop working.
  • Your applications, notifications, requests for a review, and free retake records.
  • Support form messages and company requests sent from your account or its email address.

The copies of your messages in our team's email inbox are deleted when you ask us by email or through the support form. "Delete my data" does not reach that inbox, so if you sent us messages and want those copies gone too, write to us.

Messages in a conversation with someone else stay for that person, and payment records stay as long as tax and accounting rules require. If you want anything else removed, tell us.

To delete one interview attempt and keep your account, open your results page and choose Delete next to that attempt under "Your interview attempts". Its transcript, scores, feedback, share links, verification codes, and any review request about it are deleted right away, and companies you shared it with through "Use my recent interview" no longer see it. Your account and your other attempts stay. Deleting an attempt does not give you a retake back. We keep a short record that you asked.

Deleting your data from Aethel does not delete copies a service provider already received. Each keeps them under its own terms, for example: OpenAI keeps request content for up to 30 days, LiveKit says it keeps no audio or video, and Deepgram and Cartesia keep nothing. Beyond Presence does not publish how long it keeps what it receives, and we have not set up the zero data retention it offers enterprise customers. Anthropic keeps support conversations for 30 days, or for up to 2 years if its safety systems flag one. D-ID, a provider we stopped using on October 7, 2026, deletes data from its live agents within 72 hours, but its terms let it keep using what it received. If you want us to ask a provider to delete what it may still hold, tell us and we will.

A company you interviewed with through its link can no longer see your results in Aethel once you delete them. If that company already downloaded your results, or received them in its own systems, it keeps that copy until it deletes it, so ask the company to delete it too. A company can also remove your result from its account, for example if you ask it to. That deletes the company's copy in Aethel, with its decision and notes about you. Your own results stay yours.

You can also:

  • Get a copy of your data. Use "Download my data" on your home page, profile page, or results page, or ask us.
  • Download a PDF of a result from your results page. A verification code can be added to the attempt that represents you. Your browser makes the file. Aethel does not keep a copy of it.
  • Choose which interview attempt represents you on your Find experts profile, in new share links, and in verification codes. Use "Your interview attempts" on your results page.
  • Correct your profile on your profile page, or ask us to correct something else that is wrong.
  • Hide your public profile. Turn off "Show my profile on Find experts" on your profile page.
  • Ask for a review of how your interview was scored. Use "Ask for a review" on your results page, or email us. Review requests are answered by Aethel's AI support assistant.
  • Stop non-essential emails. Write to us with "Unsubscribe" in the subject, as the email preferences page explains.

We reply within 2 business days. Replies come from Aethel's AI support assistant. We complete requests as quickly as we can, and requests to delete your data or get a copy of it within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, including laws on AI in hiring. Tell us where you are and we will help. See notice, consent, and AI hiring laws.

How we count visits

We want to know whether people use Aethel without tracking anyone. So we count visits to our public pages and a few steps: starting an application, creating an account, verifying your email, starting and finishing an interview, viewing your results, and creating a share link. For companies, we count signing up, creating an interview link, and candidates opening and finishing interviews from that link. We run this counting ourselves on Google Cloud. No analytics company receives it.

  • We keep daily totals only, such as how many visits the apply page had on one day, split into phone or computer.
  • We do not save your IP address. We use it only in memory, for about a minute, to block too many requests from one place, and server request logs are switched off for this counting.
  • We do not save your browser details or the full address of the page. Private link codes, such as the code in an interview link or a share link, are never sent.
  • We do not use cookies or any ID that follows you from page to page or from day to day.
  • For steps that need an account, we count each account once per step per day. To do that we keep a one-way code made with a secret that changes every day. The secret and the codes are deleted within about three days. Once the secret is gone, a code cannot be linked back to your account.
  • If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted from it.

Cookies and browser storage

Aethel does not set cookies, and we do not use advertising or third-party analytics trackers. We use your browser's own storage only for things the site needs to work:

  • Keeping you signed in. If you turn off "Keep me signed in on this device", you are signed out when you close the tab.
  • When you apply, the details you entered (including any resume details you confirmed) while you verify your email, so they are not lost if the email link opens a new tab. We clear them once they are saved to your profile, and stop using them after a day.
  • The code from an interview link or invite link you opened, so the interview or account you start is linked to it.
  • In the live video interview, a note in the open tab of which interview you are in (its ID, your account ID, the interview link code if you came from one, and when it started, never your answers), so a refresh can continue the same interview. It is removed once your results are ready or you leave the interview, and it is gone when you close the tab.
  • In the older text interview, used only when the live video room is unavailable, a copy of your progress on this device.
  • Your results, only in the open tab, so the results page loads faster.
  • For companies, a note that a payment is in progress, so the page can show the outcome when you return from Stripe.
  • Small technical notes that stop a page from reloading itself over and over after a site update or an error.

We count visits without cookies, as described in how we count visits.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and stored with Google Cloud. Access to interview records is limited to you and the small number of Aethel staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.

Children

Aethel is for adults looking for work. Do not use Aethel if you are under 18.

Changes and contact

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. Questions or requests: support@aethel.pro. See also our Terms of Service.
